Family Pictures, can be super stressful but what can be even more stressful is picking out outfits for them. You want everyone to coordinate, yet show their own personality! It can be a daunting task but if you take these 5 tips I think you will be stress free this year!
1. Chose YOUR outfit first
If mama ain’t happy in her outfit, then no one is happy! I say this being kinda funny, kinda not! If you don’t feel good in your outfit, you will never be happy with the pictures. So take some time and go shopping alone for yourself, find the outfit YOU love and then fill in the gaps! Your kids & hubby won’t care and they will probably just be happy to have them done for the year!
2. Get coordinating colors, but not matchy-matchy
You want everyone to coordinate, but don’t get everyone a yellow shirt so you all match. This will cause clashing and that is never good! Think color families, for example jewel tones, black and white, neutrals, rustic colors etc!
3. Stick to the smaller family member having the fun print
I always make sure that at least one of the kiddos has a fun print. You don’t want to be the mom that stands out wearing the leopard when everyone else is very neutral. Personally that just makes you look bigger, more eye catching and possibly stick out. Now I’m not saying you can’t have a fun print somewhere but just make sure it’s small. For example, your daughter could have a leopard dress and maybe you have leopard shoes or a scarf!
4. Save the husband’s for last
Do not, I repeat DO NOT stress about his outfit. My husband’s last few years of family picture options have been Old Navy thermal tee’s or a cheap button up from Target. They are simple basics and they leave him feeling not stressed, not out there and just his everyday wear because let’s be honest you know guys hate family pictures, so don’t make it worse on him by making him go out of his comfort zone!
5. Neutrals are great
If you are too scared to try something different, neutrals always look good! Just make sure you don’t get too washed out! Make sure there is some texture, warmth and at least a little bit of color!
Now i’m going to put together some options for you so maybe you can just pick outfits from here or at least get some ideas!
I hope this has given you some insight for picking family picture outfits! Don’t let it stress you out and if you need some help let me know, I’d be happy to help! Just remember in the end you’ll have great family pictures to last a lifetime!
