If you are looking for a fun summer bucket list to-do, then look no further than Kalahari Indoor Waterpark Resort! We took the kids this past week to enjoy 3 days of fun at one of Kalahari’s locations in Texas, Round Rock to be exact and we had the best time!
We arrived on Sunday around lunch time after driving just over 6 hours to get to the resort! The kids were SO excited to get in the waterpark and immediately start going down slides, swimming, eating treats and basically just ready to live their best life.
Tip: You can use the amenities the entire day you check in (just pack a swim bag & leave the luggage in your car until your room is ready for check in) and continue to use them until close of the day you check out (even though you have checked out of your room)!
When we walked in you should have seen their faces! The entry is very grand and there are shops, restuarants, escape rooms, a giant arcade equipped with full size amusement rides! It’s truly magical! After we walked through the resort to the side where the indoor water park is located we immediately went inside, found a table and the kids were ready to hit the ground sliding! 😉 There are over 30 slides inside the water park from little kid areas to slides that will even make an adult squeal! They have body slides, tube slides, and even a fun wave surf simulator! I was VERY impressed by the amount of toddler friendly things they had at Kalahari. They do have a rule in place that anyone under 48″ MUST wear a life jacket so you can bring your own or they have ones the provide! So many slides that Sway could do so he never felt left out! They even had swings, a mini lazy river, a water table that you could sit babies inside…so many options, which as a mom of multiple kids all different ages it was so nice to see so many things offered in one place! Oh, another option that we didn’t do this time but might in the future was renting a cabana. They have so many to choose from so make sure you research which one will fit your family the best! We played inside all day while we waited for our room to be ready (it was ready early around 2pm) Once we got a text it was ready we played for a few more hours and then I took the kids up to the room to start showers while Matt got our luggage from the car! Then it was time to go grab some dinner at Cinco Niños (we made reservations on open table just in case since our family is so big lol) It was so yummy! After dinner we hit up the arcade inside Tom Foolerys Adventure Park for games & rides and shut that place down! The kids were in heaven! The amusement rides were all 42″ and up & everyone enjoyed them all! Once the arcade was closed we headed to grab ice cream before heading up to the room for bed! Let me tell you, the minute those kids heads hit the pillow, they were OUT! A first day well spent! I will say we had a two room suite for our family and it was perfect! One room had a king sized bed and then the other room had two queens, two full bathrooms, a sofa sleeper and a living room! It was perfect!
Day 2 we woke up and grabbed some Starbucks and headed to the indoor waterpark again to wait for the outside to open up! We had the perfect view of the outside area from our room and the kids were ready to go out and play some basketball, use the swings, and do the outdoor slides! I was very ready to get some sun & it felt amazing out there! They slid, pushed Sway in the swings, played basketball, ate delicious pizza by the pool (highly recommend the pizza y’all, it’s SO yummy) and just enjoyed the day outside! We tried to make reservations for the escape room the first night but it was booked so I recommend doing that first thing when you get there if your kids are wanting to do it at all while you’re there! We ended up doing it the second day before dinner and got out with 9 minutes to spare! The kids LOVE escape rooms so this was a family favorite for sure! We also made reservations again for dinner at Sortino’s Italian Kitchen, which was delicious, the alfredo was drool worth as well as the bread! I’m drooling just thinking about it right now actually! We did dinner and then headed for the arcade/rides again and this night we added in the ropes course! THAT was a huge hit with my kids! Just remember to pack close toed shoes because it is a requirement for the attraction! They absolutely had the best time going through the ropes course which had a pretty legit zip line! Daddy even got in on the action and said it was tons of fun! We tried to pull them away before closing but yeahhhh that wasn’t happening! We shut it down again & had no regrets! YOLO
Our last day we woke up and Matt headed down to take our luggage to the car while we got ready for the water park! We packed a bag again with our road trip clothes so we could change out of wet swim suits in the resort before walking to the car! Once Matt got our stuff loaded he took the kids to the indoor part while mama snuck away to the spa for a halo therapy session! It was so relaxing and JUST what I needed being 35 weeks pregnant and following 4 kids around a water park for 2 days! I highly suggest trying out the spa if you have time! It was so incredibly nice & they offered so many services!
I do want to mention there are parts of the resort that are great for couples as well. They have a nice steakhouse for dinners (family friendly as well), adults only pool area, swim up bar and even a piano bar! Maybe next time we will bring more family so we can all take turns enjoying some of the more adult aspects of the resort but this time was all about family & I wouldn’t trade the memories we made for anything! One thing we didn’t get to do which looked so incredibly fun was the bowling alley they had on site! We just simply ran out of time but if we ever go back I’d love to try it out!
We played until about 1pm and then decided we better get on the road and head home since we had a 6 hour drive ahead of us but we could have stayed until close if we wanted! The kids of course tried to persuade us! 😉 We had SUCH an amazing time at Kalahari Indoor Waterpark Resorts and truly can not wait to go back someday! Make sure you look to see if there is a location near you, I promise, you won’t be disappointed! You can find all the information for Kalahari Indoor Waterpark of Texas HERE!
