Summer travel is as good as it gets! We love traveling with our family! Summer is a busy time for everyone and travel is in full swing as everyone is trying to get all of their vacations out of the way before kids start back to school, teachers go back to work, etc. However, summer for our family is a hard time to travel. My husband works in the ag sales field so he is pretty busy in the summer months! We still like to take our kids a few places during the summer months but we usually stay in Texas so we just make road trips out of it! This summer we traveled to San Antonio and Dallas for a few nights away & we had the best time! I am going to be sharing with you what we did in each of these cities to get the most bang for your buck and make sure you have the best time in Texas, whether or not it’s your home state!Β

San Antonio
This is a must do anytime you go to SA! It is literally beautiful, full of great shopping, boat rides and so much history! Such a neat little gem!
We never go to San Antonio without hitting up Rainforest Cafe on the River Walk! It’s an interactive restaurant that literally looks like you’re eating in the rainforest! My kids LOVE this place!
One word, EXHAUSTED! Fiesta Texas was a day full of rides, sweating and lots of laughs! We thankfully brought my mom along on this trip so Matt & I got to enjoy some “big kid” rides as we tell the kids! π
I know this may be a controversial stop but we always enjoy ourselves at Sea World. It’s a great combination of rides, animal, great food and amazing shows! We also did the water park this year and my kids were obsessed! It had so many great things for the littles that it made it easy to enjoy!
5. Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort
So we ended up extending our trip by one night so we found an amazing deal online to stay at this resort and oh my goodness….it’s breath taking! It is literally one of the most family friendly, yet still adult friendly vacation spots you can hit up while in SA! It can be pricey but if you watch for deals you can snag a great one like we did! They have a beach area for sand castles, a lazy river, a wave simulator, movies on the lawn, s’more making…literally anything you can think of they have it!
Dallas
If you’ve never been here, you must look up a location and go! It is such a neat experience and totally keeps my kiddos occupied the entire time! They ride horses, dressed up as knights, play mideival games and even throw roses out to the crowd all while you are being served a 5 course delicious meal to be eaten with only your hands! So cool!
This was our first time taking the kids to a D&B and holy cow this is like Vegas for kids. They were like little ping pong balls going all over that place! It was hard to keep up with them but they had the best time & slept like rocks. Oh, and the food here….all I can say is WOW!
The girls needed some pampering while in Dallas so we decided to all go get blow outs at Blo Knox. If you haven’t been here you definitely need to! You go in, they wash your hair, pour you a drink, and style your hair any way you like! No cut, no color! Just a beautiful blow out!β
We took the kids to the stockyards to watch the cattle drive, do some mechanical bull riding, pictures with a bull, a train ride. It’s just a slice of little kid Texan heaven! We didn’t spend much time here because it was SO hot and there were so many people but the things we did do the kids enjoyed so much!
Hands down my favorite park in Dallas. It is located in the middle of downtown Dallas and is the cutest little spot ever! Full of food trucks, music occasionally, a splash pad area, watch tower and the best people watching we stayed here for hours. The kids ran around and got soaked in their clothes, had ice cream and ran around until their little hearts were content, or actually until they were dozing in the water! ha!
