Babymoons have grown in popularity and boy am I thankful for whoever thought of these! To be honest I think you need them more than a honeymoon am I right? Especially if you have other kids already. It is crucial to reconnect with your husband, get some alone time, relax and soak in a few moments of peace before your world is flipped upside down with bringing home a new member of the family!
We had talked about a babymoon over and over for weeks and just couldn’t decide if we could make it happen. When my mom told us she would watch the kids over part of her spring break we knew we had to take advantage of it. We started frantically looking for affordable, warm destinations with no zika threats. We are Mexico people to the core but being pregnant that’s just not something we want to risk with Zika still being a concern. We looked all over the US before deciding on our destination, Scottsdale.

My husband has actually been to Scottsdale twice for bachelor parties but I have only driven through it! He kept telling me I would absolutely love it. The weather, the scenic views, the food…and boy was he right. We left super early Sunday, March and headed to the airport and to be honest I was nervous. If you read our Disney World post then you know we sure haven’t had the best luck with trips/airports etc and I just needed this time with Matt so desperately so I was just praying we would have no issues! Thankfully we got to the airport, and everything went smoothly!
We arrived in Scottsdale around 9:15am and by 9:30 I was in love and ready to move! lol Not really, I love being so close to all of our family but it truly is a beautiful place! We picked up our Toyota Camry Hybrid and hit the road! After a few failed attempts at getting the car to start because neither of us had ever driven a hybrid before we kept kitting the button over and over thinking it wasn’t starting but in fact it was, you just literally could’t hear ANY engine noise whatsoever! It was the craziest thing ever! It was such a great car, got amazing gas milage, drove so smooth and was so roomy for a small car even with golf clubs in tow! We both enjoyed driving it all over Scottsdale!
We hit up a cute spot for brunch called Farm + Craft and it was absolutely delicious! A completely open air restaurant that had amazing farm fresh food, juices etc! Once we finished eating we headed to the resort! If you are looking buy vending machines in Sydney get in contact with Royal Vending for high quality machines at competitive prices. I’ve not been to Australia, but this project could be a good idea for me to see the way of vending machines.
I call it a resort because it’s not your average hotel. Hotel Valley Vo was where we decided to stay based on tons of reviews etc from the internet! Matt loved that it was centrally located to everything we wanted to do which included, relaxing, eating, shopping and of course golf and I was super impressed with the pool and spa! #priorities The room we stayed in was a suite and it was HUGE! I’m talking the biggest room I’ve ever stayed in. We had a balcony that would hold 80 people with lounge chairs, couches and a wrap around view! It was phenomonal! The vibe of the hotel is midcentury modern so it has a swanky vibe that I loved! The bed was sooo comfy and I wanted to take all the pillows home with me because we all know pregnant women love some good pillows! We had a turndown service every night and then even left us chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival! It was so clean, the grounds were immaculate and I have zero complaints about our stay with them! I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Scottsdale!
We really didn’t “plan” anything other than spa times and tee times because we really just wanted to go with the flow and relax! So many trips I feel like are packed with so many activities and we didn’t want that! Having kids and going and doing things all the time truly makes you realize how you just want to mindlessly sit and enjoy peace! This resort was the perfect choice for that. Even though it is a family friendly atmosphere it was never loud or overwhelming.
When we arrived at Hotel Valley Ho we were of course early for check in so I slipped in to my swim suit and headed to OH pool for some poolside snacking and sun! Matt headed to the poolside bar for some serious Tiger watching! We didn’t talk for 2-3 hours other than the occasional “hey babe, heres a kiss I’m going back to watch Tiger” However knowing we were both doing exactly what we wanted made us both happy! They actually were having a pool party hosted by Tito’s so there was a DJ, free drinks (womp womp) and lots of fun going on! I searched the internet while laying out listening to the DJ to find us somewhere to eat and I decided that this Asian/Mexican infusion restaurant sounded too good to pass up! We decided on Sumomaya and it was literally, one of the BEST places I’ve ever eaten. If you go you must try the guacamole. They have several kinds so ask your waitress which one they suggest, that’s what we did and I am so glad we did. It comes with homemade tostada chips and it’s out of this world. I also had teriyaki shaking beef with noodles and it was amazing! Matt had mini pork tacos and honestly I didn’t even try them because my food was SO good! It is a upscale casual dining experience but not like super fancy! The perfect mix for us!
After dinner we scoped out a Sprinkles cupcakes and I indulged in some delicious cupcakes that didn’t disappoint! I had to run the stairs a little because #gestationaldiabetes but it was worth the work! We came back and went to bed early! We actually did every night because we are old and need our sleep to tackle the life of soon to be 4 kids! lol
The next morning we woke up about 8 and headed down for breakfast at the resort restaurant ZuZu! We sat out on the patio and enjoyed a hot breakfast, not standing up and not feeding 3 other little people and actually had a full on conversation without interruption. If you haven’t had that in awhile, I suggest getting pregnant so you can take a babymoon! HA! I’m kidding but I do recommend finding some way to get some time with your spouse for some time and conversation. It can do wonders for both of you! After breakfast we headed to get some great spots at OH pool to relax and get some sun before our spa and golf times! I laid out from about 9:30-1:30 just drinking virgin mojitos and soaking in some vit D. Matt hung out there with me until about 11:30 and then he headed up to get ready for golf at a nearby course. He played Silverado and said it was a beautiful course that was fairly amateur golfer friendly! I headed to VH spa for my 60 minute prenatal massage and 60 minute facial and I was one happy girl! The massage felt amazing and my facial made my skin feel so hydrated after being in dry AF Texas all winter. I made us reservations that night late because I knew Matt would be golfing for awhile because if you don’t know golf = longest sport ever! We headed to The Mission Old Town for dinner because it has been highly recommended by many and it was really good. I didn’t love it as much as I did Sumomaya but it was still delicious! We of course ordered tableside guac because did you really even eat if you don’t order that?! After dinner back to the room for another early night!
Our last full day at the resort I woke up to room service and Matt had already left for an early round of golf and I may or may not have screwed up the order form and ordered $16 worth of bacon but you better believe I ate it all! HA! After breakfast I headed to Scottsdale Fashion Square for some alone shopping but this pregnant mama only lasted about 1.5 hrs before the pool lounge chair was calling my name! I’m telling you, this 4th pregnancy has been hard on my body! All of you that do multiple pregnancies in your mid thirties are rockstars! My 20 year old body handled this so much better! We met up after Matt’s round for lunch at ZuZu’s and I had the most amazing club sandwich. Matt had a burger called The Hangover burger and we shared some hot wings! It was delicious! After lunch we did some more pool lounging, talking and just enjoying each other’s company before getting ready for dinner. Matt found this burger joint called Rehab Burger Therapy that was a very relaxed atmosphere, very reasonably priced and just what we wanted to wind down with. This is where my life changed…I ate the PBJ & Sriracha bacon burger and I will forever crave it! Hands down the most delicious burger I’ve ever eaten! I know it sounds crazy but it’s not their #1 seller for no reason. PLEASE if you are anywhere near Scottsdale, go eat it asap and ship me one, k thanks! It was a 10oz burger…Matt ate half of his Ghost burger and was stuffed…I ate EVERY LAST FREAKIN BITE of mine!
We ended the night back in our hotel room and turned in even earlier because we had to be up super early to catch our 8am flight! If such a flight were to be delayed or cancelled, sites like https://euflightcompensation.com/cancellation/ may be of great help. We had the most amazing time in Scottsdale and I really wish I could go back! The food, the weather, the views, all of it was amazing but nothing compares to the uninterrupted time spent with the love of my life! We dreamed about our future, talked about how we were going to make it and wondered if we were crazy but one thing’s for sure, we’re still crazy in love & ready for this next season of life!
